So, I'm giving blogging another try. My usual modes of intellectual output are "social media hot take" or "working on a book I never seem to finish." So instead I'm trying to take some of the ideas from the latter and condense them into some blog articles where I can espouse my more fleshed out opinions. A few things about me:
Christian leftist with an interest in Catholic mysticism and liberation theology. Particularly drawn to the Jesuit and Franciscan traditions. Frequently at odds with the institutional church, but still a practicing member.
Neither anarchist nor Marxist, but something closer to Communalism or Democratic Confederalism. I try to center my analysis on liberation, which I understand to be the fulfillment of the human telos. Political influences include Karl Marx, Thorstein Veblen, Lewis Mumford, Murray Bookchin, Abdullah Öcalan, Paulo Friere, Ivan Illich, Jacque Maritain, Hannah Arendt, David Graeber, Huey Newton, Nitzan and Bichler, David Harvey, Fernand Braudel, Immanuel Wallerstein, and Gene McCarraher.
Philosophy buff, with influences including Aristotle, Scholasticism, Henri Bergson, Martha Nussbaum, Alasdair McIntyre, Gilles Deleuze, Bruno Latour, Jürgen Habermas, Roy Bhaskar, Andy Clark, Kwame Anthony Appiah. I tend toward views that are organicist, vitalist, emergentist, and teleological.
Other areas of interest include history, economics, comparative religion, sociology, anthropology, and ecology.
Autistic. Technically diagnosed with Asperger's, but that diagnosis doesn't exist anymore. Neurodiverse person struggling to make sense of neurotypical world.
Pro-LGBTQ, pro-feminist, pro-racial justice, pro-intersectionality, anti-capitalist, anti-cop, anti-fascist, anti-tankie, anti-authoritarian.
Hopefully I can start churning out some actual content to develop my ideas and not leave this site neglected in the nether regions of the internet like my previous attempts to maintain a blog.
